Welcome to the Kentucky History and Genealogy Project

Hi and welcome to the Kentucky History and Genealogy Project - a proud member of the PA-Roots family of websites!  We're so glad you stopped by.  Our goal is to be an entrance point for your research of your ancestors in Kentucky.  We are affiliated with the American Local History Network.  We encourage you to check out our "family" of county websites. We're seeking to provide the best resources to you. If you should have any questions in the area of your research, please contact the County Coordinator directly.   If you should have a specific question about The Kentucky History and Genealogy Project, please feel free to contact us.  Please consider joining our team.

You will want to begin your search by exploring the County Websites.  You may discover that one of the counties is in need of a coordinator.   If you are interested in adopting one of the counties, please send us an e-mail message.

Each of the counties maintains a system for submitting queries.  In many cases you might not know which county your ancestor was from.  Please utilize our  General Kentucky Query Board only if you do not know the county of origin for your ancestors.

The Kentucky History and Genealogy Project is in need of volunteers to host county pages, query boards, provide look-up resources, transcribe data, etc...

If you might be interested in volunteering and joining our team,  please contact us.
