Welcome to the South Dakota History and Genealogy Project
Hi and welcome to the South Dakota History and Genealogy Project! We are a part of the the American Local History Network. We're so glad you stopped by. Our goal is to be an entrance point for your research of your ancestors in South Dakota. We encourage you to check out our "family" of county websites. You will want to begin your search by exploring the County Websites. You may discover that one of the counties is in need of a coordinator. If you are interested in adopting one of the counties, please contact us.
Each of the counties maintains a system for submitting queries. In many cases you might not know which county your ancestor was from. Please utilize our General South Dakota Query Board only if you do not know the county of origin for your ancestors.
