History and Genealogy Project! We are a part of the the
American Local History Network. We're so glad you stopped by. Our goal is to be
an entrance point for your research of your ancestors in South Dakota. We encourage you to check out our "family" of county websites.
We're seeking to provide the best resources to you. If you should have
any questions in the area of your research, please contact the County
Coordinator directly. If you should have a specific question
about The South Dakota History and Genealogy Project, please feel free to

This website was started by Virginia Cisewski and we thank her for her years

You will want to begin your search by exploring the County
Websites. You may discover that one of the counties is in need of
a coordinator. If you are interested in adopting one of the
counties, please contact us.
Each of the counties maintains a system for submitting
queries. In many cases you might not know which county your
ancestor was from. Please utilize our
General
South Dakota Query Board only if you do not know the county of origin
for your ancestors.
