Bio: Campbell, Charles A.
(1881) ----Source: History of Northern Wisconsin (Ashland County, Wis.) 1881, Page 70 Charles A. Campbell, saloon, Ashland, was born in Rochester, N.Y., Feb. 6, 1845. In 1861 he enlisted in the 13th N.Y.V.I.; re-enlisted in the 3r Mich. Cav., and, in 1865, was mustered out. He went to Missouri, and traveled generally through the South, and then, having contracted a fever in Texas, went to Montana and Dakota. He stopped for a while in Bismarck, and then came to Ashland County, and kept a hotel in Chippewa until the Spring of 1881, when he came to Ashland and opened a saloon. He was married Nov. 13, 1880, to Hattie Tyler, of Bayfield. They have one child, Lewis Ellis.
