Dean Junior Van Patter was born in Glen Flora, Rusk County, Wisconsin, June 24, 1904. After finishing the state graded school in Glen Flora, he became a student of Northland Academy in Ashland. After finishing his course in this school, he studied two years in Northland College in Ashland; hen transferred to the Dental School of Marquette University in Milwaukee, and graduated last June. A short time ago he opened an office in this city to practice his profession. He was the manager of the hockey team at Marquette for one year, and the captain of a baseball team at Northland for one year. He also was active in basketball, football and track at both schools. Outside of college athletics, he pitched for Bloomington of the Three (I) League, Gladstone of the Upper Michigan League and Waterloo of the Mississippi Valley League. Among teams he pitched for in semi-pro baseball are: Rhinelander, Butternut and a Milwaukee team. He also was with the Marshfield team for a few games last season, and this year he is signed for the season with the local team, which is a unit of the Wisconsin Valley Baseball League. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. Lee Van Patter of Glen Flora. 

Dr. Van Patter was married to Miss Mary Catherine Schlecht, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. F. X. Schlecht, Ashland, in Christ Episcopal Church, in St. Paul, on August 2, 1922. Dr. and Mrs. Van Patter have one daughter, Virginia Lee 11 months. Mrs. Van Patter’s father died six years ago.  

He is a member of the Xi Chapter, Marquette, of the Psi Omega, a national fraternity and a fraternity at Northland, Ashland. Politically, he is Independent. His hobbies are athletics.
