Marr: Grant, Irene (1916) ----Source: Unknown newspaper, dated Thursday, 21 Dec. 1916 ----Grant, Irene (Marriage – 14 Dec. 1916) Grant – Spriggel Miss Irene Grant of the town of Butternut and Mr. William Spriggel of Akron, Ohio, were quietly married at the home of the bride’s father last Thursday evening at 6 o’clock. Rev. W. E. Schilling performed the ceremony. Only the immediate relatives of the bride, Mr. George Grant, her father, and her brother, Mr. Wm. Grant and wife were present. A delicious wedding supper was partaken of after the ceremony and the young couple left on the 9:15 train for Portland, Oregon, where they intend to make their future home. The bride is the younger daughter of Mr. George Grant, pioneer resident of the town of Butternut. She has an unusually pleasant disposition and enjoys a host of friends. The groom is a machinist by trade. A year ago last summer he was employed at the Idlewild resort. Miss Grant was employed there at the same time and an acquaintance sprang up between them which in time developed into a stronger feeling for one another and finally culminated last Thursday evening. The young couple have the best wishes of Butternut people for happiness and prosperity on their nuptial voyage.
