1870 CENSUS RECORDS

Douglas County, CO

To keep the file size as small as possible, the census has been separated mostly by town. However, the original census was completed in order of visitation by the census taker, therefore you might find additional names for a particular family on the next page even though they may be listed in a different town. Please be sure to check the pages before and after. Also, if you happen to be looking for someone who might have worked on the railroad, check the town of Bijou Basin. There were several pages of railroad workers.

The handwriting at the time the census was taken, was a little different than present day. I had quite a bit of difficulty differentiating "S" from "L", "a's" and "o's", "e's" and "i's", depending on whether the census taker was in a hurry or not. If I had a question of spelling, etc., I did put a possible spelling in [brackets].

One final note, be cautious in taking anything for absolute fact, and use these records as leads to other sources. Also, I do not have any further information other than what is listed here.
